Cooling plus electric heat in one matched package: a 3 ton Oxbox air conditioner, a matched upflow air handler, and an 8 kW heat kit for a mid-size home.

Key Features

Rated at 15.2 SEER2 (Oxbox's higher efficiency tier), this 3 ton Oxbox air conditioner split system is built for mid-size single-family homes. That higher rating means lower cooling bills over long cooling seasons. Heating comes from the included 8 kW electric heat strip inside the air handler, a simple setup for areas with short, mild winters. This matchup uses the J5AH5E36A1B00AA air handler, an upflow unit with a 1/2 HP blower motor. It uses R-454B refrigerant on standard 208/230V single-phase power and is approved for both DOE North and South regions.

  • Scroll compressor: a proven compressor design known for smooth, steady operation and long service life.
  • R-454B refrigerant: the low-GWP A2L refrigerant replacing R-410A in new residential equipment.
  • 8 kW electric heat kit, included: gives you dependable heat from the same air handler, ideal where winters are short and mild.
  • 15.2 SEER2 efficiency: a step above minimum efficiency, which adds up in climates where the AC runs most of the year.
  • Upflow air handler with built-in evaporator coil: matched to this outdoor unit, with a 1/2 HP blower motor moving air through your ductwork.
  • Straightforward electrical: 21.9 A minimum circuit ampacity on the outdoor unit keeps breaker and wire sizing simple for a 3 ton install.

Common Questions

What else do I need for installation?
Plan on a copper line set sized for your run, a condenser pad, an outdoor disconnect, electrical wiring, and a thermostat. Refrigerant work must be done by a licensed HVAC technician.
How does this system heat?
This is an air conditioner, so heating comes from the included 8 kW electric heat strip inside the air handler. It's a simple, reliable setup for areas with short, mild winters. If you heat for much of the year, a heat pump system will usually cost less to run.
Is 3 tons the right size for my home?
3 tons is a common fit for mid-size single-family homes, but square footage alone isn't a reliable guide. Insulation, windows, sun exposure, and ductwork all matter. A Manual J load calculation from your installer is the best way to confirm sizing before you buy.
14.3 or 15.2 SEER2: which should I choose?
Both meet current efficiency requirements. The 15.2 SEER2 systems cost a bit more up front and use less electricity to cool, so they make the most sense where the system runs much of the year. The 14.3 SEER2 systems keep the purchase price lower. This system is the 15.2 SEER2 version.
