Straightforward comfort for a modest single-family home: a 2.5 ton Oxbox air conditioner, a matched upflow air handler, and a 5 kW electric heat kit, all shipped together.

Key Features

This Oxbox 2.5 ton air conditioner split system is rated at 15.2 SEER2, Oxbox's higher efficiency tier. The extra efficiency pays off most where the system runs for much of the year. For heat, the 5 kW electric heat kit mounts inside the air handler and warms air through the same ducts that carry your cooling. This matchup uses the J5AH5E36A1B00AA air handler, an upflow unit with a 1/2 HP blower motor. The 2.5 ton capacity puts it in the range typically used for modest single-family homes and larger condos. Everything runs on R-454B refrigerant and 208/230V single-phase power, and it's approved for installation in both the DOE North and South regions.

  • Rotary compressor: a compact, efficient compressor design well suited to this capacity range.
  • Upflow air handler with built-in evaporator coil: matched to this outdoor unit, with a 1/2 HP blower motor moving air through your ductwork.
  • Straightforward electrical: 17.6 A minimum circuit ampacity on the outdoor unit keeps breaker and wire sizing simple for a 2.5 ton install.
  • 15.2 SEER2 efficiency: a step above minimum efficiency, which adds up in climates where the AC runs most of the year.
  • 5 kW electric heat kit, included: covers your heating needs without a separate furnace, and arrives with the rest of the system.
  • R-454B refrigerant: a lower global warming potential refrigerant that meets current EPA requirements for new systems.

Common Questions

What else do I need for installation?
Plan on a copper line set sized for your run, a condenser pad, an outdoor disconnect, electrical wiring, and a thermostat. Refrigerant work must be done by a licensed HVAC technician.
How does this system heat?
This is an air conditioner, so heating comes from the included 5 kW electric heat strip inside the air handler. It's a simple, reliable setup for areas with short, mild winters. If you heat for much of the year, a heat pump system will usually cost less to run.
Is 2.5 tons the right size for my home?
2.5 tons is a common fit for modest single-family homes and larger condos, but square footage alone isn't a reliable guide. Insulation, windows, sun exposure, and ductwork all matter. A Manual J load calculation from your installer is the best way to confirm sizing before you buy.
14.3 or 15.2 SEER2: which should I choose?
Both meet current efficiency requirements. The 15.2 SEER2 systems cost a bit more up front and use less electricity to cool, so they make the most sense where the system runs much of the year. The 14.3 SEER2 systems keep the purchase price lower. This system is the 15.2 SEER2 version.
