A closet-friendly Oxbox system for small homes, condos, and apartments: 2 ton air conditioner, wall-hung air handler with front return, and a 5 kW heat kit, all matched and shipped together.

Key Features

At 2 tons and 15.2 SEER2, this Oxbox air conditioner system sits in Oxbox's higher efficiency tier. That's a step above minimum efficiency, which adds up in hot climates. Heating comes from the included 5 kW electric heat strip inside the air handler, a simple setup for areas with short, mild winters. Indoors, the wall-hung air handler takes return air straight through a grille on its front panel, so it fits closets that weren't built for a floor-standing cabinet and return plenum. At this capacity it's a common choice for small homes, condos, and apartments. Everything runs on R-454B refrigerant and 208/230V single-phase power, and it's approved for installation in both the DOE North and South regions.

  • Rotary compressor: a compact, efficient compressor design well suited to this capacity range.
  • Front return air: air returns through the front of the cabinet, eliminating the need for a separate return plenum or stand underneath.
  • R-454B refrigerant: the low-GWP A2L refrigerant replacing R-410A in new residential equipment.
  • 73 dB sound rating: the outdoor unit's published sound level, useful for planning placement near bedrooms, patios, or neighbors.
  • Wall-hung air handler: mounts directly on the wall, freeing up floor space and making it a direct path for replacing an existing wall-mounted closet unit.
  • 5 kW electric heat kit, included: covers your heating needs without a separate furnace, and arrives with the rest of the system.
  • 15.2 SEER2 efficiency: a step above minimum efficiency, which adds up in climates where the AC runs most of the year.

Common Questions

What comes in the box, and what do I still need?
You get the outdoor condenser, the wall-hung air handler, and the 5 kW heat kit. You'll still need a copper line set sized for your run, a condenser pad, an outdoor disconnect, electrical wiring, wall-mounting hardware, a return filter, and a thermostat. Professional installation by a licensed HVAC technician is required for refrigerant work.
Will this fit where my old wall-mounted unit was?
It's designed for exactly that kind of space: closets and utility areas where the air handler hangs on the wall and pulls return air through its front. Before ordering, compare the cabinet dimensions and duct connection points against your existing unit, and have your installer confirm clearances and wall support.
What does front return mean?
Return air (the air pulled back from your living space to be cooled or heated) enters through a filter grille on the front of the air handler. That removes the need for a return plenum or platform under the unit, which is what lets it work in shallow closets and wall-mounted setups.
How does this system heat?
This is an air conditioner, so heating comes from the included 5 kW electric heat strip inside the air handler. It's a simple, reliable setup for areas with short, mild winters. If you heat for much of the year, a heat pump system will usually cost less to run.
14.3 or 15.2 SEER2: which should I choose?
Both meet current efficiency requirements. The 15.2 SEER2 systems cost a bit more up front and use less electricity to cool, so they make the most sense where the system runs much of the year. The 14.3 SEER2 systems keep the purchase price lower. This system is the 15.2 SEER2 version.
