One outdoor unit for summer and winter. This Oxbox 2 ton heat pump system ships with its matched upflow air handler and a 5 kW heat kit, ready to heat and cool small homes, condos, and apartments.

Key Features

This Oxbox 2 ton heat pump split system is rated at 14.3 SEER2, Oxbox's standard efficiency tier. In summer it cools; in winter the same outdoor unit reverses to pull heat in from outside air, with the included 5 kW heat strip standing by for the coldest mornings, defrost cycles, or emergency heat. This matchup uses the J5AH4P24A1B00AA air handler, an upflow unit with a 1/5 HP blower motor. It is a practical match for small homes, condos, and apartments, pending a load calculation from your installer. It uses R-454B refrigerant on standard 208/230V single-phase power and is approved for both DOE North and South regions.

  • Heating and cooling from one outdoor unit: the reversing heat pump replaces a separate furnace in most mild-winter climates, so there's one system to service instead of two.
  • Upflow air handler with built-in evaporator coil: matched to this outdoor unit, with a 1/5 HP blower motor moving air through your ductwork.
  • 5 kW auxiliary heat kit, included: installs inside the air handler and steps in automatically when the heat pump needs help or during defrost. No separate purchase to track down.
  • R-454B refrigerant: the low-GWP A2L refrigerant replacing R-410A in new residential equipment.
  • Scroll compressor: a proven compressor design known for smooth, steady operation and long service life.
  • 73 dB sound rating: the outdoor unit's published sound level, useful for planning placement near bedrooms, patios, or neighbors.

Common Questions

What comes in the box, and what do I still need?
You get the outdoor heat pump, the indoor air handler, and the 5 kW heat kit. You'll still need a copper line set sized for your run, a condenser pad, an outdoor disconnect, electrical wiring, and a heat-pump-compatible thermostat. Professional installation by a licensed HVAC technician is required for refrigerant work.
When does the heat kit turn on?
Your thermostat brings on the 5 kW heat strip when the heat pump can't keep up on its own, during defrost cycles, or when you switch to emergency heat. Most of the time, the heat pump does the heating by itself.
Is 2 tons the right size for my home?
2 tons is a common fit for small homes, condos, and apartments, but square footage alone isn't a reliable guide. Insulation, windows, sun exposure, and ductwork all matter. A Manual J load calculation from your installer is the best way to confirm sizing before you buy.
How do I get the 10-year parts warranty?
Coverage is 5 years on parts as standard. Register the system with Oxbox after installation to extend parts coverage to 10 years.
