This Oxbox 1.5 ton air conditioner split system is rated at 15.2 SEER2, Oxbox's higher efficiency tier. The extra efficiency pays off most where the system runs for much of the year. For heat, the 5 kW electric heat kit mounts inside the air handler and warms air through the same ducts that carry your cooling. The indoor unit hangs on the wall and pulls return air through its front grille, which keeps the footprint small in closets and utility spaces. At this capacity it's a common choice for smaller homes, condos, and additions. It uses R-454B refrigerant on standard 208/230V single-phase power and is approved for both DOE North and South regions.

Common Questions

What else do I need for installation?
Plan on a copper line set sized for your run, a condenser pad, an outdoor disconnect, electrical wiring, wall-mounting hardware, a return filter, and a thermostat. Refrigerant work must be done by a licensed HVAC technician.
Will this fit where my old wall-mounted unit was?
It's designed for exactly that kind of space: closets and utility areas where the air handler hangs on the wall and pulls return air through its front. Before ordering, compare the cabinet dimensions and duct connection points against your existing unit, and have your installer confirm clearances and wall support.
What does front return mean?
Return air (the air pulled back from your living space to be cooled or heated) enters through a filter grille on the front of the air handler. That removes the need for a return plenum or platform under the unit, which is what lets it work in shallow closets and wall-mounted setups.
How does this system heat?
This is an air conditioner, so heating comes from the included 5 kW electric heat strip inside the air handler. It's a simple, reliable setup for areas with short, mild winters. If you heat for much of the year, a heat pump system will usually cost less to run.
