Built for tight mechanical closets: a 1.5 ton Oxbox air conditioner paired with a wall-hung, front-return air handler and a 5 kW electric heat kit. It's a full cooling-and-heating replacement for condos, apartments, and other homes where the indoor unit hangs on the wall instead of sitting on a platform.

Key Features

Rated at 14.3 SEER2 (Oxbox's standard efficiency tier), this 1.5 ton Oxbox air conditioner split system is built for smaller homes, condos, and additions. Heating comes from the included 5 kW electric heat strip inside the air handler, a simple setup for areas with short, mild winters. Indoors, the wall-hung air handler takes return air straight through a grille on its front panel, so it fits closets that weren't built for a floor-standing cabinet and return plenum. It is a practical match for smaller homes, condos, and additions, pending a load calculation from your installer. Everything runs on R-454B refrigerant and 208/230V single-phase power, and it's approved for installation in both the DOE North and South regions.

  • Rotary compressor: a compact design that suits smaller-capacity systems like this one.
  • Front return air: air returns through the front of the cabinet, eliminating the need for a separate return plenum or stand underneath.
  • R-454B refrigerant: the low-GWP A2L refrigerant replacing R-410A in new residential equipment.
  • Wall-hung air handler: mounts directly on the wall, freeing up floor space and making it a direct path for replacing an existing wall-mounted closet unit.
  • 69 dB sound rating: the outdoor unit's published sound level, useful for planning placement near bedrooms, patios, or neighbors.
  • 5 kW electric heat kit, included: gives you dependable heat from the same air handler, ideal where winters are short and mild.

Common Questions

What else do I need for installation?
Plan on a copper line set sized for your run, a condenser pad, an outdoor disconnect, electrical wiring, wall-mounting hardware, a return filter, and a thermostat. Refrigerant work must be done by a licensed HVAC technician.
Will this fit where my old wall-mounted unit was?
It's designed for exactly that kind of space: closets and utility areas where the air handler hangs on the wall and pulls return air through its front. Before ordering, compare the cabinet dimensions and duct connection points against your existing unit, and have your installer confirm clearances and wall support.
What does front return mean?
Return air (the air pulled back from your living space to be cooled or heated) enters through a filter grille on the front of the air handler. That removes the need for a return plenum or platform under the unit, which is what lets it work in shallow closets and wall-mounted setups.
How does this system heat?
This is an air conditioner, so heating comes from the included 5 kW electric heat strip inside the air handler. It's a simple, reliable setup for areas with short, mild winters. If you heat for much of the year, a heat pump system will usually cost less to run.
