Field-installable electric heat kit for Everwell air handlers. Provides electric resistance heating — primary heat in AC systems or supplemental backup heat in heat pump systems.

What This Is

An electric heat kit is a strip of resistance heating elements that installs directly inside an Everwell air handler cabinet. When the thermostat calls for heat, current passes through the elements and the air handler's blower distributes warm air through the ductwork. Simple, reliable, requires only an electrical hookup.

Two common use cases: as primary heat in an AC + electric heat configuration (mild climates without natural gas), or as supplemental backup heat in a heat pump system for the coldest days when the heat pump alone can't keep up.

Common Questions

Which air handlers does this fit?
Everwell AHC-series air handlers (AHC2414BA15, AHC3614BA15, AHC4214BA15, AHC6014BA15). The kit installs in a dedicated slot inside the air handler cabinet.
How much heat does it provide?
This is a 8kW kit, which produces about 27,296 BTU/h of heat output. As a rough sizing guide: 5kW heats a small space, 10kW handles a typical home in mild climates, 15kW provides robust heating for larger homes or colder climates.
Do I need this for a heat pump system?
Recommended in colder climates. Heat pumps lose efficiency below about 40°F outdoor temperature, and a heat strip provides backup heat for the coldest days. In warm climates, a heat kit may be optional. Required for AC + electric heat systems where the heat pump option isn't being used.
Is this hard to install?
The kit slides into a dedicated slot inside the air handler and connects via plug-in or terminal block, depending on the model. Wiring runs to the existing thermostat circuit. Standard HVAC wiring practice — no refrigerant work involved.
